KIRO reported that missing Yanira Cedillos, 30, who went missing on March 4, was found in a remote area of Walla Walla County on May 12. KIRO says she was found dead in a sleeping bag that was covered in tree limbs and leaves. Moses Lake police positively identified the body as Cedillos with the help of the medical examiner’s office.

Cedillos was found after MLPD received some information on cellphone data from the suspect’s cell phone. MLPD says it tracked the suspect’s phone for several minutes the day Cedillos went missing.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Yanira’s family and friends. Yanira’s family have been side by side with us throughout this entire investigation. Although the outcome is not what anyone wanted, it brings us comfort that we were able to find Yanira and bring her back to her family. We would also like to thank everyone in this community that has assisted with searching for Yanira and all the support that her family has received during this difficult time,” MLPD said in a statement on Facebook.

MLPD says is ongoing along with the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office to “obtain a conviction in this horrible incident.”
