IHOP apologizes to Adam Sandler with all-you-can-drink milkshakes

NEW YORK — To make up after a server at a busy Long Island IHOP unwittingly turned away entertainer Adam Sandler, the restaurant chain is offering all-you-can-drink milkshakes on Monday.

The comedian went to a Manhasset IHOP but left after he was told it would be a 30 minute wait to be seated, CNN reported.

The interaction was widely viewed on social media, prompting a response from Sandler: “For the record, I only left the IHOP because the nice woman told me the all-you-can-eat deal didn’t apply to the milkshakes.”

In an effort to woo Sandler, IHOP declared this Monday “Milkshake Monday” and will offer unlimited milkshakes for $6.49 at 19 locations across Long Island.

“We take our guests’ suggestions very seriously in an effort to continually shake things up and satisfy all palates with our signature commitment to IHOSPITALITY,” Kieran Donahue, the restaurant’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement.

The promotion is from noon to 8 p.m. A portion of Monday’s milkshake sales from across the country, up to $50,000, will be given to Comedy Gives Back, a nonprofit that helps comedians struggling because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It is unclear if Sandler plans to participate in the promotion.
