3 children being treated for frostbite after they were taken in carjacking in Nebraska

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Three children who were reportedly taken in a carjacking in Grand Island, Nebraska, Sunday are being treated for frostbite.

With temperatures at around 0 degrees at 3 a.m. Sunday, a man reported that his 2012 Chevrolet Traverse had been stolen, according to The Associated Press. The SUV reportedly had three children inside the vehicle when it was stolen.

The Grand Island Police said that two males, an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old, were arrested with the vehicle, according to the AP.

Shortly after their arrests, two children, ages 5 and 1, were found around 5 a.m. According to the AP, the two children were found inside another vehicle that was also reported stolen in Kearney, Nebraska.

Around thirty minutes later, an infant was found in Hall County, Nebraska, in front of a farmhouse, according to the AP.

The SUV was reportedly involved in a police pursuit prior to officers learning that there were children involved, according to the AP. The SUV was tracked down to a rural area near Buffalo County and officers arrested the two suspects.

The two are facing multiple charges including kidnapping and intentional child abuse, according to the AP.

The three children were being treated for hypothermia and frostbite, according to the AP.

No further information has been released.
